Oreinsuge
The dragon of ancient Basque culture who feared fire and saved the world by becoming a hero and protector of ancient civilizations.
Oreinsuge was a small dragon when he was orphaned after a fire caused his green scales to transform into soft pink fur. The dragon grew up alone, with the mockery and pity of the people upon him. One stormy night, he felt a shiver that ruffled his fur in warning. He looked around and the village was in danger. Everyone had been caught in the biggest fire ever recorded caused by a lightning strike. Humans, dragons, centaurs, animals, lamias... all were screaming in despair amidst the flames. Without a second thought, Oreinsuge rushed through the flames to help them. To his surprise and that of the whole village, it turned out that his pink hair was fireproof. The misfortune of her life brought with it a gift from Mari, the earth mother, goddess of Basque mythology. Oreinsurge was thus able to save all his people and became the hero and protector of humanity, Basajuan's companion, that we know today.
